Costa Almeria is Europe’s warmest and sunniest region, with over 3000 hours of sunshine a year. The Almanzora region enjoys a desert microclimate - unique in Europe - resulting from its location within a horse-shoe of mountain ranges, surrounding the Almanzora valley, opening on to a 30 km (20 mile) wide bay - the Bahia del Almanzora.  With the mountains protecting the area from cloud and rain, the region has the warmest winter weather on the continent with an annual average of more than nine hours of daily sunshine and maximum daily temperatures of between 18°C (60°F) and 30°C (86°F) throughout the year. Annual rainfall is less than 200 mm.

Until recently Costa Almeria was less accessible than some other Spanish destinations, a fact which has undoubtedly helped to shield it from the excess of tourism and led it to become the unspoilt, peaceful place it is today. Almanzora’s coastal waters are among the cleanest and warmest in Europe, attracting both fish and diving enthusiasts.

With warmer weather in the summer and mild temperatures in the winter, those suffering from arthritis, rheumatism, asthma, exzyma or bronchial problems can expect to benefit from a better standard of living from this micro-climate on the Costa Almeria.
